Evi-isms

Her daddy taught her this pout...he'll regret it one day!
Evi-isms:
hang off = opposite of hang on (as in let go)
misappear = disappear
Dr. Pointment = her name when she's playing Doctor (as in doctor's appointment)
elphalant = elephant
feeget = forget
all'em all = all of them

One of her favorite phrases right now is "that's not fair!" Already!! She's not even a teenager yet and I hear this all the time. Granted she doesn't always use it correctly, but she uses it a lot, non the less. Then she recently sighed and gave Gigi a "whatever!" That just shows that she spends too much time with her Aunt Tooti!

We had cousin Melanie's wedding. She did a good job as flower girl. And Mel was beautiful. Then Evi was a dancing queen! The best part was that the DJ played the Hokey Pokey, which is her favorite, and the chicken dance which she also likes a lot. But she danced for a couple of hours straight, which means so did the rest of us, Gigi, Chacha, Auntie M and Tooti and even 8 month prego mommy!! By the end of the night I thought Lonestar might just fall out!! She kept doing this funny dance with her hands on the floor in a downdog position and dancing her feet around everywhere. It was great! And by the end of the night it was like Evi was drunk, crying and saying "I love you" to people. She was exhausted! As soon as aunt Mali was in the car with her she was out.

Aunt Becky's cat has had kittens...and I have told Evi she can have one if there is a girl in the litter. She is soooo excited. After our first visit she literally said "call Aunt Becky, I want to get the kitty" for 30 minutes straight. Since then she's done better with understanding that we can't get it for a few weeks. Her first choice in names was "Horse", I vetoed that one, and now she's decided on "Flower". Which is appropriate since the kitties are all black and white like the skunk in Bambi, named Flower. (not that she knows that!) Needless to say, we had a talk about how to hold the kitty...meaning, not by strangling it, like in the pix.

Just 7 weeks left...funny how a month ago I was freaking out that we only had 12 weeks until Lonestar's arrival. Now I feel like time is standing still!! And we're never going to get there. A month ago I was also worried that I didn't feel as much movement from Lonestar as I did from Evi, and that Evi always had the hick ups. Well, I'd say Lonestar moves as much now, no need to worry. And we've definitely had annoying cases of the hick ups! Evi loves to feel the baby move. She likes it when Lonestar kicks her in the back when we're cuddling for naps or in the morning. She's also decided that Lonestar is a girl. I keep telling her it could be a boy, and she says "no, I just love baby girls". This could get messy! (this is a pix of her hugging and kissing Lonestar from my point of view) She also has a baby in her belly and she'll let you feel it kick. She calls it "Tumble" and it's a boy, for daddy to take to work.

For mother's day I received a great gift from my husband...I came home to a clean house! He actually did a pretty good job (and he may live to regret that he proved he could do a satisfactory job in my eyes!!) It was very nice!

Sleeping Arrangements

Well...we've been working on sleeping alone, Evi that is! She went one night
and we went to Wal-Mart and picked up a fish tank with decorations,
but she had to do 3 more nights in order to get actual fish for the tank. We made a poster with a fish hook on the top corner and a little fish that had to travel 3 positions to get to the hook. (a la Supper Nanny-she's a genius) So when she wakes up at night she says "mamma" very loudly until I make it to her room and all I have to do is barely put my hand on her back and she crashes hard again. And the deal is that I will cuddle with her when the sun comes up.
Now, Daddy on the other hand wants to encourage her to come to him and get in bed whenever she wakes up because he desperately loves the cuddling and gets none from his wife. I say that's just trading one bad habit for another...she'll start coming to the room at early hours of the night, then we might as well just sleep with her from the beginning. What's the difference? So I have a feeling getting Daddy to stick to his guns when I'm on a trip is going to be hard. Good thing I'll be off work in less than a month!! (for at least 8 months!)
On the second day of sleeping alone I walked past her room to find her sitting in a chair in front of the fish tank just watching the water and decorations...no fish, how sad is that! (the pix above) But she made it through 4 nights and now has 5 little glow fish. She still wakes up and calls for me, but goes back to sleep immediately. I figure we'll conquer one thing at a time. (by the time I have actually posted this she has actually slept through the entire night a couple of times. Yipee!! Mommy, on the other hand, is still waking!)

On Saturday mornings, Scott & Evi have started going for donuts. I usually work Saturdays so I have not been privy to this tradition yet. But my husband did confess the other day that he takes Evi in her nightgown and robe to get the donuts and how cute everyone says she is. Of course, because he's a dad, he can get away with it and people think it's cute. If it was me, they would probably just consider me a lazy mom. His excuse is that it's early, 9 AM!! I had to explain to him that most people with small children have been up since 6 or 7 AM, and that 9 AM would be late!!
I recently found a piece of paper from when I registered our phone number with the DONOTCALL list (and from when I was obviously more organized than I am now) and noticed that it would expire in April, but never did anything about it. Let me just say that our phone has been suddenly ringing off the hook!! Needless to say, I have now added our phone number again!

I am at the beginning of the end of my pregnancy...it is now slightly uncomfortable no matter what I do...If I stand, my back and stomach are tired...sit, and my tail bone hurts. Even laying down doesn't help. My pillow count is now 4, I was up to being surrounded by 6 with Evi. The one behind my back was known as the pillow of death, if Scott even touched it in the night I couldn't guarantee his safety. I know I need to work as much as possible, for financial reasons while I still can, but I'm exhausted.

Easter was good. Of course it rained Easter Sunday, but luckily Scott had taken her to a big hunt when the weather was nice on Saturday. The bunny brought mostly M&M's (Evi's fav).

She has decided to take after her Aunt Mali and is deathly afraid of flying bugs. The other day she was hysterical while on the potty and when I made it in there and asked what was wrong she was freaking out over a fly!! A fly! They are abundant in OK in the summer along with many other flying insects, this summer should be fun.

For those of not in the know...Marni is expecting a GIRL!!! I'm so excited! She set her blog up as invite only, so if you want in, I have connections, just let me know.

Evi's jam since before Christmas has been "that's not my name" by the Ting Tings. It's very catchy! But I finally captured video of her singing it. Enjoy! (So for those of you who receive the full post by email, you'll have to actually go to the blog site to see the video, i think)
