Christmas & Mickey Mouse

Happy New Year!!
We just returned from a week at Mickey Mouse's House! And while I love Disney, I will never again go during the Holidays or Summer!!!! My children will miss a week of school to go in the off season than to go when the rest of the world has vacation too. We're talking 2 hour lines for rides that last 15-20 seconds sometimes!!!! Evi loved it though. Each time we left a park, she did not want to go. She wanted nothing to do with the characters, but didn't mind looking at them from a distance. As you can see from the pix with Minnie Mouse, she hid her face when I tried to get her to take a pix with her. Some of the rides scared her a little, especially if they were dark. Any of the "interactive" rides or 3D shows absolutely terrified her. So the ones that sprayed water, shot air or anything like that, she screamed and cried. She rode her first roller coaster though, and absolutely loved it. She had a smile plastered to her face the whole ride and said "AGAIN" when it was done.
We spent a small fortune on pins for her lanyard. It weighed almost as much as she did by the time we left! I made a little sheet to hang in her lanyard with everyone's cell # on it just in case we lost her, but luckily it never happened! There were just too many people there to let her run free, so she was in her stroller or on Scott's shoulders the whole time. I did ride some roller coasters, so if Lonestar is a little off, we'll know why! : )
Oh, yea, I have been trying to find a good Texas name to call this baby since we called Evi "Tex" while I pregers with her and someone suggested "Lonestar" and I think I really like it! So, Lonestar it is!
Christmas was a success. Santa brought Evi quite the loot. And since we left Christmas day for our trip, we were able to bribe her with her Christmas toys again by reminding her of them when it was time to leave Disney. Otherwise she would have never left! The cutest has been a microphone with stand and speaker. We have already had concerts. Right now it's really cute, but I know we'll be sick of it in the future. And poor Evi, she inherited both her parents lack of musical talent!
We spent 2 days with Scott's sister and her family in Tampa before we went to Orlando. Both days were spent on the beach. Evi's first beach trip. (she is making a sand angel in this pix) She loved the sand. She was afraid of the waves the first day, but had Scott in the cold water the next day. I am on a huge kick to try and get Scott to move there. It would be perfect. I would be within driving distance of a base. And there is no winter there!! I love it!! Of course, people keep saying it's hot there in the summer, but it is here in OKC too, and then I have to deal with winter weather which I can't stand. And that's what air conditioning is for. And it would still be an easy nonstop flight to Houston for me to see my mommy. So if anyone knows of a good job for Scott in Tampa, let him know!!!!
When we left Florida it was a lovely 80*, went through Houston where it was 73*, and then I had to go get the car in OKC where it was a balmy 35* with 30mph winds from the north. I hate OKC!

Speaking of Santa, I could not get Evi to take a pix with the big man. My only option was to let her watch ChaCha get dressed in a Santa outfit. And that actually worked, kind of. She wasn't afraid of him but still cried when I tried to put her on his lap. Oh well, maybe next year.




I recently went back to my pixie hair cut from college, and boy does it show all my gray!! And there is lots of it! I did this when I found out I was pregers with Evi too but then decided to immediately grow it out. I like the cut this time, and plan on keeping it. It will make mornings easier since I can now shower at night and refix my hair in the morning. Couldn't do that before, I had to shower in the morning. My husband says morning showers are invigorating and wake you up, I say they just piss me off more because that's 5 more minutes I could have slept! Especially when I'm at work and reporting at 5 AM!!!!

3 + 1 makes 4!

Well, I have decided to start a family blog since Evi's life as she knows will now be coming to a screeching halt this summer when the "unknown" Bernauer joins us. That's right, we are pregnant... again... for the last time!! I can only afford two children. And I mean this financially and emotionally!! (or for sanity, whatever)
We are excited and Evi has no idea how her life will come to screeching halt, but she's excited too. (And yes, for those of you who saw me at Marni's wedding, I was pregnant and knew it, but it was Marni's moment, and I'm firm believer in keeping it to yourself the first trimester. I told immediate family this time because I was so sick and moody, I knew my mother would know right off. It was easier with Evi when she was out the country for the first trimester!) Evi talks about the baby in mommy's belly and wants to know when the doctor is going to take it out. I told her my belly has to get very big! We have looked at the pictures of me pregnant with her too. Of course she asked Scott if he had a baby in his belly (haha!!) and when he said no, she asked what was in there, he said "food, lots of food". (more like beer, lots of beer)
To tell our mothers I ordered a shirt for Evi that said, "I have a secret" on the front, "I'm going to be a big sister on the back". She wore to my mom's house and my mom actually read it within the first few minutes we were in the door. As she read it out loud, her voice got really high pitched and she started to cry. This, of course, scared my over dramatic child who proceeded to cry for about 5 minutes. And THEN Mali realized what was going on. A little slow on the uptake, huh Mali. (teehee)
We're due mid July. Another July birthday to go with Chacha, Auntie M, Aunt Mali and even one on Scott's side, Uncle Randy! The first couple of months were rough, with lots of nausea. I felt sick a lot with Evi too, but I could take a nap whenever I wanted then, now that's just not possible. And while I am excited, I'm also a little superstitious and am afraid to be too excited in the event that something happens. As if it would make it less of a blow, this is my hormonal reasoning...if i'm not too excited, we'll be fine. And no, I will not find out what we're having this time either. I am not one of those women who feel "great" when they are pregers. As a matter of fact, I don't enjoy it. Don't get me wrong, I love the miracle of it, the feeling the baby move etc., But I don't feel beautiful, I can't sleep very well, I am very uncomfortable, and last time I practically grew a beard! So the not knowing is the one thing that keeps me excited about the condition I'm in. Either sex would be great. Seeing as I have sisters, I would love for Evi to have a sister, but I know Scott and my dads would be excited to finally have a boy around! According to some reading I've done, our conception timing puts the odds of having a boy better than a girl, so we'll see how that goes!

Yes, I had said that I didn't want to get pregers until after we went to Disney, but I also didn't think we'd be successful on our first try!! Just call me Fertile Myrtle! Both of my children will be proof that it only takes once!
Since becoming pregnant, Evi has become a huge Daddy's girl. Which has been fine by me. It's let me lay on the couch a lot more than usual. So now that I finally have freedom, I'm starting all over!!!! aaauuuuggghhhhhhh!!!!!
Some of the pix are from Lucas's bday party at a Wildlife Park in Alvin. It was way fun, although the Ostrich scared Evi after a while. I highly recommend the park to any one in Houston! The other pix are with her friends & teachers from school.
