We have a new kitty!!! Unfortunately all of Aunt Becky's were boys, so I had to start watching classifieds for black & white kitties and found one. Her name is Flower, Evi named her herself, although she wanted Horse originally! We've only had her for 2 hours at this point and I think I have said "Evi, leave her alone" at least a hundred times. Kali ( the golden) has sniffed her up and down and other than a hiss once, Flower doesn't seem to mind. Supposively she is 7 weeks old, but she is sooo tiny! She is wearing a ferrett collar with a bell on it so we'll hear where she is, the kitty collars were all too big. As of right now Scotty doesn't know she's here. I've told him we were getting one, but he doesn't know she's here now!! I'm sure he'll be totally excited!! HAHAHAHA!! Especially since Evi and I are on our way to Houston Sat-Mon. I am working my last 2 legs before maternity leave (with only 5 weeks to spare!) The pilots should be plenty nervous! teehee! I think passengers are better behaved too because they are all nervous when they see a giagantic belly onboard!!
Here's the baby bumps at almost 6 months and 8 months. Can i possibly get bigger...really!?!?!

Evi-isms

Her daddy taught her this pout...he'll regret it one day!
Evi-isms:
hang off = opposite of hang on (as in let go)
misappear = disappear
Dr. Pointment = her name when she's playing Doctor (as in doctor's appointment)
elphalant = elephant
feeget = forget
all'em all = all of them

One of her favorite phrases right now is "that's not fair!" Already!! She's not even a teenager yet and I hear this all the time. Granted she doesn't always use it correctly, but she uses it a lot, non the less. Then she recently sighed and gave Gigi a "whatever!" That just shows that she spends too much time with her Aunt Tooti!

We had cousin Melanie's wedding. She did a good job as flower girl. And Mel was beautiful. Then Evi was a dancing queen! The best part was that the DJ played the Hokey Pokey, which is her favorite, and the chicken dance which she also likes a lot. But she danced for a couple of hours straight, which means so did the rest of us, Gigi, Chacha, Auntie M and Tooti and even 8 month prego mommy!! By the end of the night I thought Lonestar might just fall out!! She kept doing this funny dance with her hands on the floor in a downdog position and dancing her feet around everywhere. It was great! And by the end of the night it was like Evi was drunk, crying and saying "I love you" to people. She was exhausted! As soon as aunt Mali was in the car with her she was out.

Aunt Becky's cat has had kittens...and I have told Evi she can have one if there is a girl in the litter. She is soooo excited. After our first visit she literally said "call Aunt Becky, I want to get the kitty" for 30 minutes straight. Since then she's done better with understanding that we can't get it for a few weeks. Her first choice in names was "Horse", I vetoed that one, and now she's decided on "Flower". Which is appropriate since the kitties are all black and white like the skunk in Bambi, named Flower. (not that she knows that!) Needless to say, we had a talk about how to hold the kitty...meaning, not by strangling it, like in the pix.

Just 7 weeks left...funny how a month ago I was freaking out that we only had 12 weeks until Lonestar's arrival. Now I feel like time is standing still!! And we're never going to get there. A month ago I was also worried that I didn't feel as much movement from Lonestar as I did from Evi, and that Evi always had the hick ups. Well, I'd say Lonestar moves as much now, no need to worry. And we've definitely had annoying cases of the hick ups! Evi loves to feel the baby move. She likes it when Lonestar kicks her in the back when we're cuddling for naps or in the morning. She's also decided that Lonestar is a girl. I keep telling her it could be a boy, and she says "no, I just love baby girls". This could get messy! (this is a pix of her hugging and kissing Lonestar from my point of view) She also has a baby in her belly and she'll let you feel it kick. She calls it "Tumble" and it's a boy, for daddy to take to work.

For mother's day I received a great gift from my husband...I came home to a clean house! He actually did a pretty good job (and he may live to regret that he proved he could do a satisfactory job in my eyes!!) It was very nice!

Sleeping Arrangements

Well...we've been working on sleeping alone, Evi that is! She went one night
and we went to Wal-Mart and picked up a fish tank with decorations,
but she had to do 3 more nights in order to get actual fish for the tank. We made a poster with a fish hook on the top corner and a little fish that had to travel 3 positions to get to the hook. (a la Supper Nanny-she's a genius) So when she wakes up at night she says "mamma" very loudly until I make it to her room and all I have to do is barely put my hand on her back and she crashes hard again. And the deal is that I will cuddle with her when the sun comes up.
Now, Daddy on the other hand wants to encourage her to come to him and get in bed whenever she wakes up because he desperately loves the cuddling and gets none from his wife. I say that's just trading one bad habit for another...she'll start coming to the room at early hours of the night, then we might as well just sleep with her from the beginning. What's the difference? So I have a feeling getting Daddy to stick to his guns when I'm on a trip is going to be hard. Good thing I'll be off work in less than a month!! (for at least 8 months!)
On the second day of sleeping alone I walked past her room to find her sitting in a chair in front of the fish tank just watching the water and decorations...no fish, how sad is that! (the pix above) But she made it through 4 nights and now has 5 little glow fish. She still wakes up and calls for me, but goes back to sleep immediately. I figure we'll conquer one thing at a time. (by the time I have actually posted this she has actually slept through the entire night a couple of times. Yipee!! Mommy, on the other hand, is still waking!)

On Saturday mornings, Scott & Evi have started going for donuts. I usually work Saturdays so I have not been privy to this tradition yet. But my husband did confess the other day that he takes Evi in her nightgown and robe to get the donuts and how cute everyone says she is. Of course, because he's a dad, he can get away with it and people think it's cute. If it was me, they would probably just consider me a lazy mom. His excuse is that it's early, 9 AM!! I had to explain to him that most people with small children have been up since 6 or 7 AM, and that 9 AM would be late!!
I recently found a piece of paper from when I registered our phone number with the DONOTCALL list (and from when I was obviously more organized than I am now) and noticed that it would expire in April, but never did anything about it. Let me just say that our phone has been suddenly ringing off the hook!! Needless to say, I have now added our phone number again!

I am at the beginning of the end of my pregnancy...it is now slightly uncomfortable no matter what I do...If I stand, my back and stomach are tired...sit, and my tail bone hurts. Even laying down doesn't help. My pillow count is now 4, I was up to being surrounded by 6 with Evi. The one behind my back was known as the pillow of death, if Scott even touched it in the night I couldn't guarantee his safety. I know I need to work as much as possible, for financial reasons while I still can, but I'm exhausted.

Easter was good. Of course it rained Easter Sunday, but luckily Scott had taken her to a big hunt when the weather was nice on Saturday. The bunny brought mostly M&M's (Evi's fav).

She has decided to take after her Aunt Mali and is deathly afraid of flying bugs. The other day she was hysterical while on the potty and when I made it in there and asked what was wrong she was freaking out over a fly!! A fly! They are abundant in OK in the summer along with many other flying insects, this summer should be fun.

For those of not in the know...Marni is expecting a GIRL!!! I'm so excited! She set her blog up as invite only, so if you want in, I have connections, just let me know.

Evi's jam since before Christmas has been "that's not my name" by the Ting Tings. It's very catchy! But I finally captured video of her singing it. Enjoy! (So for those of you who receive the full post by email, you'll have to actually go to the blog site to see the video, i think)

SmartyPants

One night while reading Evi her nightly books I remembered that Sesame Street Live was going to be in town for the weekend and every time Evi would see the commercial she'd wig out about wanting to go. I was going to be on a trip, leaving in the morning and wanted to mention to Scott before I forgot, so I decided to say it in piglatin. (we usually spell things out, but this was too long) Well, I say it and she removes her milk cup and says, "I want to see Dora too!" (Another commercial we see a lot about a Dora stage show that she also wigs out about.) So that turkey new exactly what I was talking about! So, I guess it's back to the spelling things out! What's funny about that is she thinks saying random letters is a normal part of conversation and will occasionally say letters when she's telling stories, like she knows what she's doing. It's hilarious.

We went to the Houston livestock show & rodeo and Evi loved every minute of it. She really liked the buckin' broncos and was very into to cowgirls barrell racing. We were up high with the fireworks, which was pretty neat. And she liked Clint Black. She kept asking if he would sing "itsy bitsy spider". The animals were pretty hungry and aggressive at the petting zoo. A few goats tried to eat her hat, plus she's was eye level with most of them. Now, the llama is whole different story...it seemed to feel a bond with me. Every time I turned around it was making eye contact with me and getting in my face. And boy did it have bad breath!
I finally was able to see Marni, who is about 3 months pregnant. As you can see from the pix, it's nothin' yet!!! Especially when she has me to help make her look smaller. Mali just had to get in on the pix too, but hopefully she's a good 10 years out!! (Or Better Be!) Marni says she wants to find out what sex her baby is, which I'm sad about, but understand. She too is scared to death of having a boy (a penis! what are you supposed to do with that!?!?!?!) and wants to prepare herself. I, on the other hand, have another reason why I don't want to find out....I am a procrastinator at heart, and not knowing is just one more reason for me not to do anything before the baby gets here. I'm just excited that Marni & I are finally at the same stage in life...married and knocked up!!
It seems my belly has definitely gotten bigger. While trying to adjust luggage in the overhead bins on this last trip I bumped 2 different people in the head. All I could say was "sorry, I seem to be sticking out a little more than normal!"

A conversation from when I called home from an overnight:
mommy: "Are you getting ready for bed?"
Evi: " Yes"
daddy:"She's lyin'"
Evi:"No, I'm a tiger!"

She asked her daddy for another soda while I was away
Daddy:"would mommy let you have another one?"
Evi:"no, but she's not here..."
(mommy said daddy needs to have his own rules...they just need to match mommy's!)

I told her to stop eating her pez until we arrived home and she had lunch. A little bit later I saw her chewing and asked if she was still eating her pez.
Evi: "yes"
mommy:"I told you not to"
Evi:"but I told myself yes"

Pregnancy makes my butt look flat....seriously. I have always been on good terms with my rear, but I guess the extra weight around my waist and back make it look like I have a flat butt. Of course I don't work out quite as much as I used to and of as always, with age, things have "fallen". oh well. I now also have a rash on my stomach and boobs. I had it with Evi as well. It basically looks like a sunburn, and it itches like none other. With Evi, my mom threatened to quit going in public with me if I couldn't stop scratching my boobies!! This time it is even acting like a sunburn though, the skin is peeling this morning...I don't remember this from last time.

Evi is all about "helping" these days. I realize it all about growing up and being independent, but sometimes it's annoying because I could do it all so much faster if she just didn't care. So we have now put a stool in the kitchen because you shouldn't even attempt to make her anything without her help. Or you will have one very upset child, with gigantic crocodile tears. These 2 pix are of her enjoying the fruits of her labor after she helped me make cupcakes.

Did I tell you she met another Evangeline at Disney this holiday. She was an adult and Scott and I had just happen to hear her mother say her name. So Evangeline met Evangeline.

According to her teacher Miss Stephanie, Evi is a popular girl at school. Everyone wants to sit with her. (but of course!) I was surprised and asked if she was bossy at school, because she sure is at home. She said no...which is good, Scott & I were worried.

We recently gave Evi her first piece of gum. She loves it! So now I have another easy source of bribery, plus it should help on the airplane. She's noticed her ears a lot lately and sometimes it scares her. So hopefully this will help keep them clear. She's pretty good at not swallowing it and chewing it for a long time. She also had some Snickers bar for the first time the other day and quite enjoyed it as well.
We went to the zoo the other day and Evi took her little stroller and a babydoll. It was pretty cute watching her pick up the baby and point out the animals. Or hide her face, because apparently, Flower( the baby's name) is afraid of snakes.
Evi on the other hand is afraid of every noise and darkness, which I know is part of the age, but it gets very tiresome sometimes.

Twisters

Yes, we are fine. It was an exciting couple of hours for Evi & I when the tornadoes rolled through Edmond the other afternoon. We heard the first sirens on our way home from school. By the time we got home they were listing an intersection within a mile of our house and Evi & I were in the shelter of the hallway bathtub. (tight quarters!) Evi did good. She remained very calm and held the flashlight. She was then stuck to my hip the rest of time coloring a coloring book. Shortly after getting out of the tub, we were right back in once again! This one actually did some damage to our neighborhood. It looked like it had been raining trampolines in our neighborhood when we left today! Anyway, no major damage to any houses. Some with roof damage and several flattened fences. But it looks like ours was spared! Thankfully! Evi thinks Minnie Mouse & Daisy Duck make thunder by hitting drums (and Pluto is responsible for fireworks). On Thursday she woke up and the first thing she said was "the house is spinning." Then later she asked why people were holding her playset down with ropes, was it for the twister? Poor baby, she's worried about her playset blowing away and dreaming the house is spinning like the wizard of oz.

Moving right along in the pregnancy...I had Scotty take a picture the other day. Only the second one out of 4 months! With Evi I took a pix every month and put them in her album. So this poor second child is already getting the short end of the stick. Of course, it is already proving to be more of problem child too. Worse morning sickness, and stretch marks (which I did not get with Evi) after I grew an entire inch in circumference in one week!!! So now I'm worried about the delivery. I didn't feel any contractions or any pain with Evi's delivery (literally! before & after the epidural!) so this one will probably be hell! We had our complete ultrasound last week. Did not find out the sex, and Scott didn't even ask this time. (he tried to bribe the tech with Evi.) But all is well. Two arms, 2 legs, 1 head...all the important parts.

Proving that Evi is my child, when asked what she wanted for lunch today she replied "Mesican!" that's my girl!

We didn't cry at drop off for school this week!!! yipee!!
She is now scared to death of toilets that flush themselves though. I had to fold her in half at the airport the other day, and hold her screaming over the potty, but she tinkled, so I won. (she was screaming, not me, in case you were wondering...in that situation all you can do is laugh)
Last weekend Scott wanted to make poached eggs but could not find the little silicone cups I use anywhere. So on a whim he asked Evi if she knew where they were and of course, she took him right to them!
We had a little snow and that's the best I could do for a snowman for her. My mom had given her a snowman kit and she remembered it right away when it snowed. I, on the other hand, am sooo over winter, and pretty much have been since October.

A couple of things...

I forgot to mention this one fit (out of a few) where Evi got one on me. We were in the car, on the way home from our last Disney park visit (she hadn't had a nap) and she was throwing somewhat of a fit and kicking the back of Scott's seat. I told her to stop kicking the seat. So...she left one foot on the seat and began to stomp the other foot on top of that one. When I got onto her again she looked right at me and said, "I'm not, I'm kicking my foot". How, at 3 years of age, can she already be that...I don't know, tricky?!?!?! Little Turkey. All I could do was turn around, she had me on that one.

Back to school had a rough start. All that time off with mommy made it hard to go back I guess. Even gymnastics was a challenge. It took me 50 minutes to get her to go into the last 5 minutes of class! And she usually loves gym. In any other situation that she won't participate, we just leave, but this, I pay too much for to just walk out. We actually got in the car and pulled out of the parking lot twice! I threatened her with everything I could think of...no toys, not going to GiGi & ChaCha's (we were leaving for Houston later that day regardless). It's like we backtracked over the holidays! She gets upset when people new people enter a room again, from friends to family, even when she knows who they are. Hopefully everyone takes it in stride and knows it's not personal! she's just expressing herself at the cost of everyone's feelings, but hey, she's 3, what can I do?

And man is she bossy!! Yes, I know, much like her mother! She'll stomp that foot and say "NO". Tell you what to do. Part of it is the age, since friends with kids tell me they are experiencing the same. But part of it is also me, I know. I talk so firmly to her, but it was the way I could get through and make her listen to me. So, of course, she does the same. Once again, my child is a reflection of myself and I hear the way things sound coming out of her mouth from me, and I have to reevaluate myself! But who is this child now? All of sudden she throws these fits where she just screams and tenses her whole body. (I do not do this!!) I don't understand it. Through out the holidays she started acting out in public. I'll admit it is my fault. After over a year of telling her my expectations before we go in public, I kind of got lazy about talking to her about it, assuming that after all this time she would know by now the behavior that's expected. Obviously I overestimated her 3 year old brain and control. I have started talking to her again before we go in anywhere, and it helps. So, in the end, it's mommy trying to be "nice".
I know I'm almost making her sound like a bad kid, she's not. She mostly very very sweet and a good girl, it's just my hot topic right now.

The other day she was asking what we wanted to be, she wanted to be a "tater tot" And I just thought she literally meant tater tot, like from sonic. So I kept replying "onion rings". Then a couple of days later "The Land Before Time" came on with dinosaurs, and she said, there's a tater tot! when the dinos came on. Then I realized she had been trying to say "triceratops" all along!
Chacha told her he was going running because he had to get in shape so he could keep up with her little brother (no we don't know the sex, just wishful thinking on his part). Later when he came back in the room Evi said, "Did you catch him?" It was funny!
She wants the baby to be a girl, and of course daddy is hoping for a boy. Mommy, just wants a healthy baby. Of course part of me wants it to be a girl for Evi because I'm so glad I have sisters, but the other part thinks the opposite sex might be fun(although frightening!!)
We went to visit my high school girlfriend Bethany and her 12 week old twin boys. They were so cute. But of course Evi would only look out of the corner of eye at them for about the first 2 hours! One started crying out a little while laying on the couch, so I picked him up and sat next to Evi. She immediately became hysterical! So I then had to put the baby down and pick up my LARGE 3 year old baby!! I hope this is not a sign of things to come! She did finally start tallking to one of the babies right before we left. It was pretty cute.
Speaking of babies...We are 4months along now! Can you believe it? One more month and I'll be halfway there! It definitely goes faster the second time when your already busy with one child. The first time I felt like I was pregers forever!!!! I'm definitely showing now. Although I'm at the point that just have a little potbelly. Most my maternity shirts are still too big (why buy smalls when you need them for such a short time. ) So I wear a few shirts that I have that are not maternity and they definitly show off the potbelly. But, at least I've actually got a reason for having one now!! And the names on the side are just names that have caught my attention. I'm not sold on any particular one at this point, and of course my husband has no opinions of his own.
